Job description

Performs various analytical tests and records data associated with the operation of the plant, including but not limited to: pH, chlorine, turbidity, alkalinity, hardness, fluoride, aluminum, chloride, TOC, zeta potential, taste & odor, and microscopic examination. Operates various types of laboratory equipment, including but not limited to: dynamic particle analyzer for algae identification, TOC analyzer, turbidimeter, and amperometric titrations. Makes appropriate adjustments based on flow conditions and results of analytic tests of raw and finished water. Notifies Superintendent of any process changes that need to be made. Operates sludge dewatering equipment as needed. Checks associated pumps and informs maintenance of any problems.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or equivalent plus up to 18 months additional training. Successful completion of at least a high school basic algebra and chemistry class or equivalent knowledge, including surface water or wastewater treatment experience, required. Surface water treatment experience, preferred. Experience utilizing Microsoft Excel, required. Experience in water operations software such as SCADA, preferred.

  • TRAINING/SKILLS
  • Practical knowledge of all plant operations and equipment, including basic chemical testing for water quality, preferred. Familiarity with federal, state, and local regulations regarding plant operations and water quality, preferred.

  • OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Possession of or ability to obtain certification as a Class “WT5” Water Treatment Operator within 12 months of hire, required. Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle.


  • Additional Information

    Salary: $19.27 - $24.81

    Hours: 6:00pm - 6:00am, Thursday - Saturday and every other Wednesday

    Benefits:
