Water Quality Specialist

We are hiring a Full Time Water Quality Specialist to join our Water Quality team. This position will report to EPCOR’s Paradise Valley office in Scottsdale, AZ.

What you’d be responsible for

• 
  Conduct water and wastewater sampling and testing to ensure compliance with drinking water regulatory requirements and wastewater APP and AZPDES requirements.
• Conduct Fats, Oil and Grease inspections of commercial facilities in our Anthem, Rio Verde, and San Tan systems as needed.
• Ensure monitoring and reporting on environmental compliance is maintained.
• Provide technical knowledge in relation to water quality and wastewater issues and including regulatory and/or permit specified compliance monitoring and reporting.
• Communicate effectively and courteously with internal and external customers.
• Respond to water quality complaints and customer inquiries, taking appropriate corrective action.
• Responsible for maintenance/calibration of internal lab equipment.
• Recommend treatment and procedures to operations for maintaining water quality standards
• Oversee the formatting and loading of analytical results for all EPCOR drinking water systems in database. Troubleshoot issues with data formatting/loading.
• Communicate with regulatory agencies as required for environmental compliance.

What’s required to be successful

Bachelor’s or Associates Degree with a major in Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Conservation, Water Related Sciences or Engineering preferred.

All candidates must possess and maintain a valid Arizona Class D driver license and have a good driving record.

Knowledge of Water Quality and Wastewater standards and environmental regulations (County, State and Federal Government) and Water and Wastewater Treatment functions.

Strong quantitative skills (analytical, technical, problem solving, attention to detail). Ability to operate analytical instrumentation and conduct related analysis. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills (e.g., tact/diplomacy, listening, negotiation, consulting). Strong planning, organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills. Proficient in MS Office Suite and other software as needed. Ability to work independently, prioritize work and manage time to meet deadlines. Ability to work with internal and external customers to include state and county regulatory agencies.
