Summary Responsible for operating, monitoring, controlling, testing and troubleshooting water supply, treatment plant, distribution system and storage facilities. Work under the direct supervision of a lead operator or supervisor. Must be available to work flexible hours at 24-hour facility to include weekends and holidays.Essential Duties & Responsibilities • Maintains knowledge and skills for the essential operations of the water treatment plant and facilities, including both conventional and membrane treatment, in accordance with State and Federal regulations • Uses Supervisory Controller & Data Acquisition (SCADA) to operate/ monitor treatment process, adjusts chemicals and treatment equipment in accordance with regulatory permits • Trains Operator I/II and be able to cover those shifts as needed • Solves complex operating problems • Performs laboratory duties, maintains instruments, monitors quality control, collects samples, conducts analyses, and prepares samples for transport • Recommends process control adjustments to ensure optimum treatment and maintenance efforts, forwards to immediate supervisor • Enters sample analysis into daily log and ensures accuracy of all shift records/reports on their shift • Meet daily with the Lead Operator to report performance of the entire system • Provides and accepts plant status update to the preceding/on-coming operator team • Responds to public complaints or concerns • Assists with TCEQ inspections, construction and maintenance projects • Works in confined space and works around hazardous chemicals • Operates heavy equipment for facility maintenance including lift and boom trucks • Assists with sludge removal, transferring and disposal • Performs preventative maintenance on pumps, motors, and tanks; cleans and services all areas throughout the plant • Calibrates and performs maintenance on mechanical, analytical, instrumentation and telemetry equipment • Orders treatment and testing chemicals, and parts, materials, and supplies. • Develops the knowledge and ability to solve problems under normal and stressful conditions • Attends TWUA monthly trainings • Follows the city policies, procedures and safety guidelines pertaining to the work area and equipment • Maintains certification and completes continuing educations training courses • Performs other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications • High School diploma or equivalent • (May be able to substitute two years of on-the-job training with 80 additional hours of training credit or 64 semester hours of college per TCEQ) • Familiar with Microsoft office software Certificates, Licenses, Registrations • Current class “B” Surface Water Licensing from TCEQ • Class “A” Water Licensing from the TCEQ is preferred • Valid driver’s license Thank you for your interest in the position.
