Training & Technical Assistance Program
Position Overview
Lux Consulting Group, Inc. (Lux) is a professional services firm that helps government and
non-government clients manage social programs and science programs. We seek a motivated and
experienced web applications developer with an expertise in developing, maintaining, and
analyzing websites or other online platforms for supporting online learning, knowledge sharing,
and communities of practices. Most of the current sites are WordPress deployments with various
plug-ins. These sites and platforms are important elements of various federal government
contracts including Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) projects with important social
and/or scientific missions.
The position is full-time with benefits. The position is primarily remote/telework, although
occasional travel to meetings, training events, and site visits may be required. We are reviewing
contract, part-time, and full-time candidates for current and future opportunities.
Essential Functions
Collaborate effectively with a small and diverse team of graphic designers, programmers,
database architects, program analysts, subject matter experts, and others as a key
technical person in the co-production of exceptional project deliverables on federal
government contracts.
- Design, develop, maintain, analyze, and continuously improve various websites – mostly
front-end and mostly WordPress implementations.
- Design, develop, maintain, and analyze custom social networks and other online
platforms for online learning, knowledge sharing, and/or communities of practice.
- Help design and develop web based data visualizations.
- Help maintain databases and/or support the development of simple databases.
- Develop, edit, test, and document code related to websites and web applications.
- Participate in and/or lead small teams in agile software development processes, including
short sprints, .
- Capture, analyze, and refine requirements for: business rules, site architecture, user
experience (including experience using multiple applications and devices), and site
architecture. Develop new requirements based on user and client feedback.
- Where the core capabilities of WordPress (Guttenberg, posts, pages, etc.) are insufficient,
identify, document, deploy, customize, troubleshoot, and/or maintain various plugins,
commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) solutions, and application user interfaces (API)s.
- Help design, deliver, and/or update user documentation and training materials for both
frontend and backend users. Participate in a technical support helpdesk team in a
- troubleshooting role, including interacting with users to understand their issues,
developing solutions, and documenting the problems and solutions.
- Other relevant duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree.
- 5+ years in website design and maintenance.
- Knowledge of WordPress, CSS, HTML, PHP, and JavaScript.
- Knowledge and appreciation of web design aesthetics, accessibility best practices, and
standards.
- Ability to work independently.
- Eligible for Public Trust security clearance
- Experience developing and/or supporting websites for government agencies or on
government funded projects.
- Industry software and/or agile project management certifications preferred.
- Enthusiasm for supporting communities addressing social and environmental challenges
is preferred.
