Description:

The Respite Care Worker will provide respite and skills training with children ages birth to seventeen, individually and in groups. The position is part time and/or on-call with potential for temporary full-time hours during the summer and winter break. The Respite Care Worker should possess the understanding of age appropriate behavioral interventions, child development, and direct experience working with children with challenging behaviors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (with or without accommodation):

  • Screens, evaluates, and schedules referred members who may be in need of behavioral health services.
  • Provides direct care and supervision of clients in the respite program.
  • Provides meaningful teaching opportunities, experiences, and physical assistance for groups or individuals that include: social skills, self-care, and recreational activities.
  • Implements behavior intervention programs when applicable and initiates incidental teaching opportunities.
  • Assists in the development of activity plans for clients who are participating in group and respite activities.
  • Transports clients to and from community outings and other activities.
  • Provides adequate supervision for the clients in the respite setting and in the community.
  • Focuses on the safety and well-being of the child(ren) and families in all aspects of work.
  • Attends and/or makes reports to the Child and Family Team (CFT) during CFT meetings.
  • Collaborates and meets with other service providers and internal team members to coordinate services.
  • Ensures that paperwork is completed correctly and in a timely manner to ensure timeliness.
  • Attend and participate in all required staff meetings.
  • Promote and follow practices that support the health and safety of staff and members.
  • Must work scheduled hours, be punctual, keep appointments, and use time effectively in order to meet productivity.
  • Utilize supervision effectively, accept feedback in a professional manner, and accept responsibility for job performance.
  • Attend required professional development opportunities and maintain knowledge of current research as well as effective approaches.
  • Understand and maintain sensitive information within the confines of need-to-know parameters following HIPPA guidelines.
  • Maintain professionalism with staff, outside agencies and members at all times.
  • Represent EBF in a professional manner.
  • Perform simple administrative tasks.
  • Ability to work weekends.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Education –

  • High School Diploma or GED required

Experience –

  • Minimum 1-year experience in the behavioral health field preferred.

Regulatory –

  • Minimum 21 years of age.
  • Clean criminal background check and the ability to obtain and maintain an AZ DPS Level 1 fingerprint clearance card.
  • Current valid, unrestricted driver’s license, proof of insurance, and a driving record that meets the standards of the agency.
