Job Summary

Welds together metal components of products with electric arc-welding equipment. Operates MIG and TIG welding equipment. Materials - Steel, Stainless steel and aluminum

Responsibilities and Duties

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

• Operate MIG & TIG equipment
• Connect cables from welding unit to obtain amperage, voltage, slop, and pulse as specified by equipment manufacturer and requirements of the application.
• Manually guide electrode or gun along weld line, maintaining length of arc and speed of movement to form specified depth of fusion and bead, as judged from color of metal, sound of weld and size of molten puddle.
• Welding in flat, horizontal, or vertical positions
• Examine weld for bead size and other specifications
• Apply filler rod manually to supply weld metal
• Repair broken or cracked parts & fills holes
• Prepare broken parts for welding by grooving or scarfing surface
• Position and clamp work pieces together assembles them in the jig or fixture
• Tacks assemblies together

Qualifications and Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability preferred.

• Education - One year certificate from college or technical school. Or three to months to 1 year of related experience preferred
• Mathematical skills - Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.25 - $21.50 per hour
