Position Summary

The Wire Associate accurately and efficiently cuts wire to the customers specifications and prepares the items for delivery to the customer. The work schedule is Monday through Friday from 4 am to 1 pm.

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities

• Measure and cut wire according to the customers specifications.
• Maintain accurate records of wire inventory.
• Regularly calibrates wire meters.
• Stage wire cut for delivery/shipment.
• Receive and put away wire shipments in the correct location.
• Maintains clean and safe work area and follows all safety guidelines.
• Conducts routine maintenance and safety checks of warehouse equipment including pallet jacks and forklifts.

Additional Responsibilities

• Actively participate in and contribute to Mayer’s Continuous Quality Improvement efforts.
• Complete assigned training in a timely manner.
• May participate in or assist with physical inventory preparation or process.
• Demonstrate commitment to Mayer’s core values and vision to be First Choice with our suppliers, customers, and associates.
• Complete all other appropriate tasks or duties assigned by supervisor.

Required Skills/Abilities

• Ability to read and write.
• Basic math skills.
• Basic understanding of warehouse procedures.
• Good organizational skills, attention to detail, problem-solving and time-management skills.
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with a team.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED
• Zero to one year of warehouse experience

Desired Qualifications:

• Some secondary education
• One year of warehouse experience with Mayer.
• Warehouse Pro and EDGE training
• Forklift operation experience

Other

Work Environment:

• The Wire Associate works in a warehouse wire room and loading dock area. May drive forklifts or operate pallet jacks.
• The associate may be exposed to fumes, odors, and/or dust.
• Temperatures in the work environment may vary between cold and hot depending upon the season.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to walk throughout warehouse and access storage spaces and shelving units by stretching, squatting, bending, and reaching.
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
• Must be able to climb ladders.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 70lbs., and push and pull up to 300 lbs.
