Grand Canyon University is seeking a Worship Coordinator to support efforts of leading the student leader worship team as well as coordinate weekly worship services and campus-wide worship initiatives. Responsibilities include planning, promoting, development, scheduling, and administrative process details to ensure successful execution of worship events, within the scope of the Department of Spiritual Life. The Worship Coordinator will assist with recruiting, training, mentoring, and discipling student leaders while also participating in and providing leadership to ministry programs and events within the Department of Spiritual Life.
What you will do:
  • Set the vision and mission for the Worship Team, analyzing and evaluating effectiveness of all aspects of the Worship Team leadership experience.
  • Manage and oversee programming for worship services including, but not limited to: Chapel, Gathering, and Sanctuary.
  • Develop, update, maintain and facilitate student leadership development training for students participating in worship ministry.
  • Provide mentorship and supervision to student leader team through recruiting, training, ongoing meetings, and management of responsibilities throughout the school year.
  • Supports the overall mission of the Department of Spiritual Life and GCU with the Worship Team ministry, integrating these student leaders into Chapel and other events in ways that provide opportunity for service and ministry.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What you will need:
  • Bachelor’s degree (ministry related degree from a regionally accredited institution); Master’s degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years worship ministry experience; preferably with college students in a ministry or academic setting.
  • Demonstrated experience with mentoring college students, planning and leading student events and public speaking.
  • Committed to growing and furthering a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and the local church.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of musicianship, theology, and worship.
  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.
  • Must work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
