Respite is in-person, short-term or temporary care for children and youth with serious emotional disturbance (SED) provided in the least restrictive environment that provides relief for the usual caretaker and that is aimed at de-escalation of stressful situations. Respite services are provided in a manner that is strengths-based, culturally competent and responsive to each member’s individual psychosocial, developmental, and treatment care needs.

As a Respite worker your role in providing care and support is crucial to the youth’s quality of life. The support you provide should be tailored to the youths’ strengths. The care you provide should be with the youth not for the youth!

Responsible to:

Respite Supervisor and Licensed Clinical Mental Health Professional

Work Hours:

Hours vary depending on participants' needs, may involve evening hours and weekend hours. Schedules are coordinated with families and supervisors. Often during the school year hours are after school till about 7:00pm.

Work Environment:

Mana Resources, or in the community.

Specific Duties:

As a respite care provider, you will work with children and youth in their homes, in the community or at the agency's locations. Activities can include working out, going to the park, arts, and crafts, playing games, watching movies etc. You will be responsible for providing a fun, safe and structured environment for the child or youth in your care. You will be responsible for understanding a youth’s abilities up front-this will help you identify your role in building on the youth’s strengths and providing them with outstanding care.

Special Conditions:

The position always requires that the employee possess a safe driving record and an Idaho driver's License, insurance and vehicle registration.

Employees must be able to physically assist in activities.

Qualifications:

Must possess a High School Diploma/GED

Must be CPR and First Aid certified or available to attain certification

Position requires completion of a criminal history and background check and a subsequent approval from Health & Welfare.

Must complete a paid 10-hour training upon hire, and 4 additional hours per year

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: From $16.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekend availability
