The Town of Plainville, CT is accepting applications for the part-time Youth Services Program Coordinator position.

Youth Services Program Coordinator works under the direction of the Youth Services Director in development and coordination of various services for youth and families serviced by the department.

Essential Functions: This position provides direct and indirect services to youth and families, conducts, and participates in various programs in the areas of youth development, prevention, and diversion programs. This position will require outreach at community events, meetings and draft reports on youth issues and trends, plans, implements and evaluates youth and family programming. Coordination and networking with other youth serving agencies in and around Plainville and assisting as a referral source for youth and families to community resources is a must. This position will oversee our Kids in the Middle Program as well as come up with creative and innovative programs that keep up with trends and issues related to youth today. This position will also assist the Director in reporting, collaboration with other departments and service provides as well as assist with special projects.

The ideal candidate is energetic, creative and a multitasker. The ideal candidate is reliable, and detail orientated. The candidate will be able to deal with distressed youth clients, enforce rules and remain professional. Candidates must have work or life experiences that demonstrate leadership abilities, a desire to work with and motivate young children and teens and a personal commitment to the qualities of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. Must have strong computer skills including Microsoft suite programs and social media platforms.

Qualifications: Associate’s and/or Bachelor’s degree in Social Services, Psychology, Sociology, Youth Development, Marketing, Recreation, or related field and over one-year prior experience working with youth in a direct services capacity. Demonstrated knowledge of youth development and ability to establish effective working relationships. This position requires a self-starter with proven organizational and strong communication skills.

Connecticut Driver’s license required.

Salary: This position has an hourly rate of $20-$23 per hour depending on experience. This is position is 35 weeks (during the school year with summers off) and roughly 15 hours a week. The schedule is flexible with the understanding that programs take place in the afternoons/evenings.
