2nd Shift CNC Saw Operator

Job Overview

Since our beginning in 1958, Victor S. Barnes has been supplying West Michigan cabinet shops, lumber yards, OEM office furniture manufacturers, and the mill-work industry with an extensive portfolio of hardwood plywood, composite panels, decorative laminate surfaces, solid surface, edge banding, and interior/exterior residential doors.

This position is responsible for operating a computer numerical control, or CNC, machine. You will be responsible for programming, operating, and implementing machine processes while maintaining company safety and quality expectations. Additionally, you will manage related inventory and keep accurate records of daily production.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Cut material to meet specific tolerances as required by customers or as specified on the Production order
• Perform machine preventive maintenance
• Load/Unload Saw (CNC)
• Set dimensions
• Inspect and measure workpieces to mark for cuts and to verify the accuracy of cuts, using rulers
• Adjust saw blades, using wrenches and rulers
• Mount and bolt sawing blades or attachments to machine shafts
• Set up, operate, or tend saws or machines that cut or trim wood to specified dimensions, such as circular saws
• Inspect stock for imperfections or to estimate grades or qualities of stock or workpieces
• Check final dimensions
• Cleaning area at end of every shift
• Operate Hi-lo
• Willing to be cross-trained in other tasks
• Additional Tasks or projects as defined by the Team Lead
• Work on layup line when needed

Qualifications

• 3-5 years’ CNC experience
• High School Diploma
• Safety and quality conscious
• Ability to read tape measure and other gauges as needed
• Good math skills
• Good organizational skills
• Detail oriented
• Ability to work independently and on a team
• Good problem solving skills
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Honest and reliable

Shift and work schedule

• 2nd Shift
• Mon - Thurs 3:30 pm -12:00 am
• Fri - 2:30 pm - 11:00 pm
• Occasional overtime

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $22.00 per hour
