Accounts Payable Manager
Overview:
Responsible for managing the Accounts Payable function and staff, including establishing policies and procedures for accounts payable, vendor set-up, and management.
Responsibilities:
- Manages AP department. Includes day-to-day execution of accounts payable, disbursements, and vendor master functions for multiple companies.
- Oversees the AP processes, including but not limited to compliance with policies and procedures, payment terms, exception management, vendor management, and 1099’s.
- Performs vendor analysis, expense review and analysis, and support of corporate procurement functions.
- Implements and maintains systems, procedures and policies, surrounding accounts payable functions to ensure adherence to company guidelines.
- Ensures that all AP general ledger accounts are reconciled, maintained in a current status, and properly reviewed and approved.
- Manages monthly closing of AP insuring accuracy and timeliness of posting to general ledger.
- Manages AP staff. Provides on-going coaching including evaluation of and identification of training opportunities for staff members to enhance their performance, development, and work product. Addresses performance issues and makes recommendations for personnel actions.
- Works with management to resolve business process breakdowns.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or related field helpful but not required.
- Seven (7) or more years of accounting experience
- Three (3) or more years of leadership experience
- Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, accounting software, and government contracts (FARs).
- Must have large AP system experience, as well as 1099 filing experience
- Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with accountants, clients, and management.
- Strong personal computer and business solutions software skills
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Good presentation skills for educating internal clients on accounting principles
- Good planning and organizational skills to balance and prioritize work
