The Domestic Violence program at Unity House of Troy has an opening for a part-time Alternating Weekend Advocate position for either 7:30AM-3:30PM or 3:30PM-11:30PM.
Responsibilities for the position include but are not limited to:
- Provide coverage for staff, while ensuring the satisfactory and safe functioning of the Domestic Violence emergency residence.
- Answer phones and texts including the Unity House Domestic Violence Hotline and NYS Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault/PREA Hotlines, and handling miscellaneous site issues.
- Engage in ongoing victim-centered and trauma-informed interactions with program residents in a manner that is in keeping with the agency's mission and service philosophy.
- Provide crisis intervention including, but not limited to identifying crises, providing emotional support, obtaining necessary resources, and completing associated paperwork, such as intakes, case notes and or incident reports.
Please make sure you have: a high school diploma/GED and 1-2 years previous experience working with victims of domestic violence, hotline and crisis management experience. Must have reliable transportation, valid NYS driver's license and acceptable driving record as determined by our company's liability insurance policy.
