Come be a part of our award-winning, nationally accredited Parks and Recreation team! There are a variety of Aquatics opportunities within the Springfield-Greene County Park Board. Explore the possibilities below and make your selections within the application.

Join a dynamic, team-focused environment where creativity and collaboration are part of daily culture. The Aquatics section hires for 6 outdoor and 2 indoor aquatic facilities. Both year-round and seasonal opportunities are available.

  • Lifeguard: Primary responsibilities include ensuring guest safety by providing pool surveillance, accident prevention, and emergency response. Secondary responsibilities include providing excellent guest service, basic cleaning of the facility, and various opening and closing procedures.


Interested in lifeguarding but not already certified? Our lifeguards are American Red Cross (ARC) certified. Training classes are available through the Parks Department, click here. Must be enrolled in an ARC Lifeguard course to be considered, if not currently certified.

Once you are on our team we proudly provide all necessary ARC recertifications and in-service trainings.

Leadership opportunities include shift leaders, head guards, pool managers, and certified lifeguard instructors.

  • Swim Instructor: Teach private and group swim lessons for all ages and skill levels. Year-round and seasonal opportunities are available.
  • Swim Team Coach: Coach and develop the four competitive swim strokes for youth ranging from 5-18 years of age. The Stingrays are a recreational swim team. Year-round and seasonal opportunities are available.

Qualifications and Requirements

Experience, Education, and Training

  • This is an entry-level position, no experience is required to be considered;
  • Must acquire required certifications upon hire.

Licensing/Certification
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard;
  • CPR/First Aid Certification.
