Introduction

If so, The Department of Military Affairs is currently recruiting for Military Affairs Security Officers (Armed Security Officers) at Volk Field, in Camp Douglas, Wisconsin. This recruitment may be used to filled any full time and limited term (part time) vacant positions in the next 6-12 months at Volk Field in Juneau County.

Position Summary
These positions provide armed security services to protect property and persons from sabotage, fire, espionage, theft, vandalism, and other hazards; control entry and exit of all personnel, vehicles and other equipment at entry points to Volk Field Combat Readiness Training Center; assist and direct visitors; enforce parking regulations; ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local regulations, rules and laws; prepare and maintain records and documents; monitor base alarm systems; and attend training and safety classes.
Salary Information
New hires currently start at $24.65 once they pass the qualification to carry firearms. This starting wage consists of a base pay of $19.65 per hour, plus a $2.00 per hour add-on to the hourly rate for carrying a firearm while on duty, and an additional *temporary* bonus add-on of $3 for hours in work status. (The employer will provide the required firearm training.)
These positions also offer excellent benefits, including Protective Occupation Status within the Wisconsin Retirement System, which is an accelerated retirement benefit. For current permanent state employees, pay will be set in accordance with the State Comp Plan and may vary from the amounts listed above.
Job Details
Must be at least 18 years old; possess a high school diploma, GED or HSED; pass a criminal background check prior to hire. Positions are located on Wisconsin National Guard properties that requires a valid Wisconsin driver’s license upon appointment and candidate must be able to obtain a military driver license upon hire. After appointment candidate will be required to successfully obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance. A successful candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen, psychological assessment and a fitness/agility test consisting of; push-ups (18), sit ups (24), sprint (300 meter in 90 seconds), run (1.5 mile in 20 min), push (67lbs), pull (77lbs), drag/carry (145lbs-25ft) and lift (70lbs).
Qualifications
Qualified applicants need to be legally able to carry a firearm and should have education or experience in security, criminal justice, military, or similar setting.
