Assembly Supervisor – Salina, KS
Great Plains is seeking a dynamic leader to join our team as a 1st Shift Assembly Supervisor in Salina, KS. This unique opportunity allows you to plan, coordinate and lead in producing a quality product as efficiently as possible in a new plant.
This position works Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., plus overtime on Fridays, as required.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review production orders or schedules to ascertain product data, such as types, quantities, and specifications of products in order to plan department operations.
- Plan production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for assembly, utilizing knowledge of production processes and methods, and machine and equipment capabilities.
- Prepare operational schedules and coordinate assembly activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications.
- Review production and operating reports and resolve assembly problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
- Inspect machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
- Develop or revise standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards.
- Compile, store, and retrieve production data using a computer.
- Interface with other departments to ensure deadlines are met.
- Maintain an appropriate labor-management relationship with subordinates.
- Complete measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
- Follow all Great Plains and OSHA safety regulations and wear prescribed safety and protective equipment.
- Other duties may be assigned that require other qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environment.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing concepts and lead change initiatives
- Some supervisory experience helpful
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Able to excel in fast paced, high pressure situations and be results oriented
- Familiarity with MRP, working knowledge of AS400 and good PC skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to communicate with staff and work within team environment
- Possess strong employee development and people skills
