Position SummaryThe Assistant City Engineer performs professional civil engineering work in the design & construction of municipal public works projects, facilities, and in the administration of the Engineering Department"s development review process. Work involves the exercise of a high degree of independent judgment and discretion in the interpretation and execution, of policies governing City public works programs. Broad policies are prescribed by and general direction is received from the City Engineer, which holds the Assistant City Engineer responsible for the effectiveness of the engineering services programs. The Assistant City Engineer will be responsible for ensuring a timely, consistent, and thorough review of all development documents submitted to the Harlingen Engineering Department. The Assistant City Engineer will serve as the City Engineer in the absence of the City Engineer. Job Description
