What the position is
The position assists the 119 Director of Operations in ensuring that the Company obtains the highest level of safety and regulatory compliance possible while conducting all flight operations.
Essential functions:
- Ensure that safety and security is the first consideration in all operations.
- Coordinate with 119 Director of Operations to ensure allocation of departmental resources.
- Participate with, share, and accept operational control authorities as coordinated with the Director of Operations.
- Perform Flight Manager duties when assigned.
- Monitor and ensure flight operations procedures allow compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations, Operations Specifications, and other applicable federal, state, and local regulations
- Ensure company and safety policies, procedures and FARs are followed in all operations.
- Foster strong relationships with regulatory authorities including but not limited to FAA, DOT, and TSA.
- Draft and implement safety related corrective action plans for flight operations.
- Chair Flight Operations Safety Action Groups and coordinate safety risk analysis/management for operational changes under the company’s SMS program
- Foster key industry stakeholder relationships to include but not limited to RAA, airline safety organizations, United Airlines.
- Liaison with equipment manufacturers regarding aircraft equipment, furnishings, performance, and weight and balance procedures.
- Serve as a content owner or contributor for the Flight Operations manual library.
- Assist with other duties and tasks that may be assigned by the Director of Operations.
- Accountable for the Safety Management System (SMS) responsibilities as described in the Company’s SMS Manual and Title 14 CFR Part 5.23.

- Supervision of Flight Operations management personnel
- Administer delegated operational control decisions
- Apply for and receive operations specifications (Op Spec A007)
General requirements & qualifications:
- Must be a current and qualified pilot in command (PIC) or coordinate training to obtain flight qualifications post-hire with Director of Operations.
- Strong regulatory comprehension
- Company Operation Specification knowledge
- Excellent computer skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe and PowerPoint.
- Safety Management System (SMS) knowledge
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and an ability to handle high workloads
- Manual and technical writing experience preferred
