We seek an Automotive State & Local Tax (SALT) Accountant at the Shared Services office location in Las Vegas, NV. In this position, you help us to maintain compliance in our state & local jurisdictions, mitigate risk, and identify opportunities for improvement. This position will work with a variety of personnel at the management and dealership level.
- Timely prepare and file all State & Local compliance returns for OR, WA, CA, AK, and TX including:
- Sales/Use/Excise Tax
- Battery/Tire Fee
- Vehicle Inventory Tax
- Personal/Unsecured Property Tax
- Ensure all property/personal property taxes paid timely
- Work with outside consultants to lower property tax assessments
- Coordinate and correspond with State & Local auditors
- Maintain monthly dealership level accrual journal entries
- Review and correct schedules
- Follow approved office processes
- Provide notes for any issues that need attention from dealership management and provide to Controller/Accounting manager for weekly review in debriefs.
- Build relationships and communication with dealership personnel and accounting managers
Qualifications:
- Understand deadlines and apply an appropriate sense of urgency and prioritization to all tasks
- Professional appearance and work ethic
- Team-oriented and comfortable in an open office
- Two years of Accounting experience, dealership local & state tax experience in a multi-dealer company or auto dealer related software.
- Hard working with strong attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Computer Science, or a related field from an accredited college/university
- Very advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, or Google Docs/Sheets/Slides
- Strong client services orientation and accustomed to taking an active role in executing projects
