Job Description:

• The Azure Core Architecture Team is looking for seasoned Solution Architects.
• Azure Core is the organization within Microsoft which aspires to grow from the trusted public cloud for enterprises, to the trusted, ubiquitous computing platform from cloud to edge for all organizations and all workloads.
• The Azure Core Architecture team is an Architecture & Incubation team that supports the priorities and initiatives within the broader Azure Core organization in working with some of our most complex customer and internal partner projects to incubate new platform-level initiatives and to drive internal quality, resilience, and efficiency improvements.

Responsibilities:

As an architect on the team, you will be asked to participate in existing projects or take on new projects under the Azure Core Architecture & Incubation umbrella. Projects can be with our customer facing teams and their customers or with our internal engineering partners and the Azure platform itself. Projects range from sponsored customer and 1st party solutions on Azure to platform level initiatives as well as technology incubations. Our projects range in nature from thinking about programming and application models to core infrastructure and beyond.

Azure Core Architects are expected to be hands-on technical experts, capable of:

• Establishing and advising solution architectures for our most complex customers and internal partners.
• Contributing to internal incubations and new platform initiatives.
• Directly implementing proof of concept solutions based on customer requirements.
• Present technical challenges, solutions, and guidance to audiences including customer technical decision makers, and internal engineering teams. 
• Identifying solution patterns, gaps, whitespace, limits, and adoption barriers and driving feedback into the engineering teams to fuel the continued evolution of our cloud platform.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have the following experience:

• 15+ years working as an architect or similar function in Enterprise, Consulting or Platform companies
• Experience designing, implementing, and operating large scale cloud solutions.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate cross-group/cross-geo and work effectively within a team.
• Strong customer and partner empathy, with demonstrated ability to translate real world business problems into end-to-end technology product solutions. 
• Experience with Enterprise Architecture Frameworks and Patterns
• Deep technical knowledge of Cloud (Public/Private), IaaS, PaaS, services etc. 
• Experience with Agile methodologies and frameworks
• Ability to code, design, and architect solutions on top of Azure
• Track record of successful delivery of technical projects (software or infrastructure)

• North Chicago, IL 60064: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Experience:

• Azure: 5 years (Preferred)
• Cloud architecture: 10 years (Preferred)
