Neighborhood and Historic Cocktail Bar

We are looking for enthusiastic barbacks/bartenders to provide an excellent guest experience. Everyone starts off as a barback and if interest is shown in bartending, one may transition in to a bartending role, given availability of hours and a strong base in cocktail knowledge. At Joyners we create classic and innovative drinks exceeding customers needs and expectations. All employees must have a good understanding of the basics of cocktail bartending and our cocktail program before bartending. Compensation includes hourly wages and tips. Barbacks start at $10 per hour and 15% of tips. Bartenders start at $2.13 per hour plus tips. Experience in bar and restaurant service is valued, but not required.

Barback Responsibilities

• Getting the bar ready for service
• Replenishing the bar with everything it needs before, during, and after service
• Cleaning and organizing liquor room, beer storage, wine storage, and dry goods area
• Prepping juices, garnishes, and back ups
• Cleaning and refilling glassware
• Refilling ice wells

• Assisting the bartender on duty with service related tasks

• Changing kegs

• Washing and drying bar towels

• Preparing and properly presenting pleasing charcuterie boards, olive services, and bread services.

• Taking out the garbage
• Closing and cleaning the bar area after service has concluded

Skills

• Excellent work ethic
• Consistently on time and ready to work
• Computer literacy
• Positive attitude and excellent communication skills
• Ability to keep the bar organized, stocked and clean

Bartender Responsibilities

• Prepare alcohol or non-alcohol beverages for bar patrons
• Interact with customers, take orders and serve snacks and drinks
• Assess customers’ needs and preferences and make recommendations
• Mix ingredients to prepare cocktails
• Plan and present bar menu
• Check customers identification and confirm it meets legal drinking age
• Restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies
• Stay guest focused and nurture an excellent guest experience
• Comply with all food and beverage regulations

Skills

• Excellent knowledge of in mixing, garnishing and serving drinks
• Computer literacy
• Knowledge of a second language is a plus
• Positive attitude and excellent communication skills
• Ability to keep the bar organized, stocked and clean

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $40.00 per hour
