Job description
Alabama State University, Office of Human Resources, invites applications to fill the position of Benefits Coordinator. This position is responsible for providing administrative support while assisting in the day to day administration of the benefit programs that includes all benefit plans such as the health, pharmacy, dental, vision, life insurance, new hire benefit orientation, and benefit enrollment including open enrollment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administer various employee benefits programs, such as group health, flexible spending accounts, dental and vision, accident and disability, life insurance, and 403 (b) benefits.
- Conduct benefits orientations and explain benefits self-enrollment system to newly hired employees
- Makes required biweekly and monthly benefit changes ensure benefits changes are entered appropriately in payroll system for payroll deduction.
- Coordinate with other employees in Office of Human Resources to ensure they properly meet their data entry and retrieval needs
- Assist employees with health, dental, life and other related benefit claims.
- Respond to employee benefits requests and questions.
- Run benefits related reports by request.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree and 4 years of relevant human resources experience with 2 of those years administering a benefits program for an organization of 1000 or more employees; or a Master's degree with 2 years of relevant human resources experience required; and 2 years of PeopleSoft experience (or other related HR systems experience.
