The BI Developer is responsible for supporting Advocate’s Trauma Recovery Center (TRC), a health care-based violence intervention program that provides services and resources to survivors of intentional trauma, as well as Southland RISE (Resilience Initiative to Strengthen and Empower), a violence prevention collaborative uniting the trauma recovery programs of Advocate and UChicago Medicine.The BI Developer p erforms data collection, analysis, and monitoring of data to identify business needs, perform trend calculations, create data maps and visualizations , and provide recommendations and consultation which guides decisions. The BI Developer will support TRC operational, administrative, and grant teams, as well as Southland RISE collaborators. In addition, the BI Developer facilitates and coordinates analytical support to TRC operational, financial, and administrative teams.
Major Responsibilities:
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with TRC, UChicago Medicine, and other institutional and community partners to improve patient outcomes, including active participation on internal and external workgroups.
Performs intra-data analysis and quality measures to assure the data meets various database and internal data quality standards.
Extracts and manipulates data to perform trend calculations, identify benchmarking opportunities and business needs, and measure process or organizational performance. Extracts patterns from data to transform data into information.
Analyzes, compiles, researches, and validates data to ensure accuracy and appropriateness of analytics. Presents, displays, and calculates various statistics displaying analysis results. May assist others with data cleansing and more complex statistical analysis.
Participates in performance improvement activities by identifying appropriate data sources and requested analysis.
Prepares and presents specified site data on a routine bases to site leadership and other clinical specialty teams as requested. Prepares clinical data requests within specified timeline. Coordinates informational training sessions to assure individuals understands data functions and definitions.
Facilitates leadership's and staff's interpretation of data by developing narrative and quantitative reports (charts, tables, or graphs) depicting analysis results, recommendations, forecasting, and performance.
Identifies and implements opportunities for increasing business efficiency by developing new methods for automating or improving data collection, validation, and benchmarking activities.
Implements, and maintains database systems based on leadership and end-user specifications to advance departmental/organizational data collection, analysis, and reporting capabilities.
Ensures data is provided in a manner that is consistent and compliant with applicable laws, regulations, legal agreements, policies and procedure, and/or other standards.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
Epic Cogito Data Warehouse certification issued by Epic. needs to be obtained within 90 days, and
Epic Caboodle Data Model certification issued by Epic. needs to be obtained within 90 days, and
Epic Clarity Administration certification issued by Epic. needs to be obtained within 90 days.
Education Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field.
Experience Required:
Typically requires 2 years of experience in Epic Cogito and/or Business Intelligence tools.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite or similar products. Experience with relational databases as well as other data management systems.
- Ability to perform complex reporting, including demonstrated skill in composing logical, detailed, and analytical reports that support planning and decision making.
- Skills in understanding abstract concepts and in translating those concepts into an analytics to depict data or support business needs.
- Knowledge of basic statistics and data presentation to summarize and present data accurately reflecting and conveying meaning.
- Skills in creating benchmarking analysis and identify process improvement opportunities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to display and communicate information to all levels of employees, management, and other organizations.
- Thorough understanding of data points within data sources and the advantages and disadvantages.
- Operates all equipment necessary to performing the job.
- Exposed to a normal office environment.
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
