Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Exercise and promote safety
- Cut billets to the proper length, using non-ferrous cutting saw
- Ensure that all billets are stamped with proper C-codes and alloy
- Check billets for defects such as cold shuts, cracks or irregular surface defects
- Check billet dimensional requirements: diameter, surface roughness, straightness, angularity
- Store billets/logs in the designated areas in the billet yard using Combi Lift
- Perform minor routine inspections on billet saws by checking safety features
- Cut billets according to planning schedule
- Check pre-cut billets before cutting new stock
- Understand C-code designation procedures
- Operate at least one saw efficiently without supervision
- Mark billets properly after cutting (i.e. C-code, production lot number, alloy, color coding for all alloys)
- Understand the hard cards
- Fill out hard card correctly
- Knowledge of Date Collection and can scan a hard card to the next location
- Deliver billets to presses
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum Education: HS Diploma or GED
- Minimum Experience: None
- Certifications Required: Confined spaces certification; Crane certification; Fall protection certification; Forklift certification; Lock-out/Tag-out certification; Pallet jack certification
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Communication Skills: Ability to effectively listen and communicate ideas and thoughts to others; able to assimilate ideas originated by others
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions and decimals
- Reasoning Skills: Ability to carry out and communicate written and/or oral instructions
- Physical Abilities: Regularly required to stand, walk and use hands; must be able to lift 50 pounds at any time during his/her shift; the physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job; reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions
