HOST/HOSTESS JOB DESCRIPTION

1618 Asian Fusion is an established restaurant in Austin, TX.

Our restaurant is looking for a new host or hostess to join our front-of-house staff. We are a fast-paced and busy restaurant looking for qualified candidates who can meet our job requirements while maintaining a high-quality level of service for our guests at all times.

Primary responsibilities for this position include:

● Greeting guests as they enter
● Memorizing the menu and dietary options
● Creating and managing guest waitlists as needed, providing accurate wait times to incoming guests if appropriate
● Managing the flow of guests into the Dining, Bar, Patio, waiting areas, as well as a pickup area
● Assigning appropriate tables to guests according to their preferences and group size
● Informing guests of current promotions and who will serve them to ensure a smooth handoff to the service staff.
● Remembering table rotation and ensuring all servers receive the correct number of guests
● Answering phone calls and taking guest reservations
● Answering any questions about the restaurant and menu, including questions about dietary restrictions and accommodations
● Taking to-go/delivery orders and taking payments for these orders
● Working alongside the expo team and delivery drivers to make sure the orders are handled in a correct and timely manner
● Handling cash transactions, including cash payments and cash tips
● Reconciling cash drawer and completing daily reports
● Responding to client complaints and helping to resolve those complaints
● Contributing to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
● Protecting establishment and patrons by adhering to sanitation, safety, and alcohol control policies
● Providing excellent customer service at all times

Qualifications:

● High school diploma or equivalent preferred
● Must be able to provide top-notch customer service, even under pressure and in a fast-paced environment

● Positive attitude and ability to work under pressure
● Willingness to cooperate with other restaurant staff
● Ability to maintain work quality while unsupervised
● Must be able to work standing for long periods
● Willing to follow instructions
● Ready to ask for clarification as needed
● Ability to handle and count money accurately
● Ability to operate point-of-sale systems
● Prior restaurant experience is preferred

Since you are the first person our guests will see when they come into the building, you must maintain a professional and cheerful demeanor on shift. Our ideal candidate will also be comfortable with long periods of standing and walking on shift and handling regular mealtime rushes in customer volume.

Salary: $20 per hour, including Tips (after finishing training)
