Job title: Certified Professional Coder - CPC

Department: Revenue Cycle Management
SUMMARY: ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Posting daily office charges and surgeries into the computer system, after making sure that the codes that are used are correct. Also, surgery appeals and coding all surgeries to ensure good reimbursement, keeping up with error being made and bringing them to the manager’s attention, keeping up to date on coding changes and HIPAA laws including assisting with the companies Compliance Program. Making correction to error’s in posting from the collectors or management, and any other assignments from the manager.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None

QUALIFICATIONS: Coding in a medical office, heavy charge and data-entry experience, as well as heavy ICD-10 and CPT codes/book. Certification required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Must have experience as explained above in the qualification category. Must also have the classes/studying to be eligible for the certification exam.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must have good oral and written communication skills with managers and other employees.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Basic math for understanding RVU’s and charge entry.

REASONING ABILITY: This position must be able to think quickly but analyze every situation to make sure that everything is accurate, thorough and goes out clean to the insurance companies.
