The Florida Elks Youth Camp & Smith Conference Center has an immediate opening for a Chef/ Sous Chef. Full time, full benefits, year-round.

The Job:

The Chef will report directly to the Executive Chef and assist with events in both a high-volume cafeteria-style venue and an upscale fine dining venue.

The right candidate will be an effective and willing administrator to ensure optimal efficiency and standards as set by the Executive Chef. They will be detail oriented, creative and keep calm under pressure. They are expected to lead by example.

The Location:

The Florida Elks Youth Camp is unlike any “camp” you’ve ever seen. With 400 acres of natural Florida beauty, and home to the Smith Conference Center, we host groups and events of all sizes and styles.

Located less than 30 minutes from Eustis, Mt. Dora, Tavares, Sorrento, Leesburg, Lady Lake, Summerfield, Belleview, and The Villages- FEYC/SCC is an easy commute from all surrounding areas.

The Details:

Duties:

  • Set up of daily kitchen operations.
  • Execution of meals.
  • Meal planning.
  • Research and development.
  • Organizing dietary considerations.
  • Quality control.
  • Maintaining kitchen equipment.
  • Ordering & inventory.
  • Shift leading staff.
  • Assisting in staff development and training.

Requirements:

· Associates degree or equivalent kitchen experience

· 1+ years of supervisory experience

· Experienced Leadership Skills

·Excellent Time Management

· Knowledge of standard commercial equipment

· Knowledge of food safety is required.

· Weekend, evening, & some holiday availability required.

Must Have:

· Neat appearance

· Ability to pass a background check.

· Ability to pass a drug screening.

· Ability to stand for long periods

· Ability to lift to 50lbs.

Preferred Skills :

· Quantity batch cooking experience

· Fine dining experience

· Efficient computer skills (excel, word, internet applications, etc.)

· Servsafe certified preferred
