POSITION TITLE: Christmas Kettle Volunteer Coordinator

DEPARTMENT: Redding Corps

REPORTS TO: Corps Officer

FLSA status: Hourly/ Seasonal Full-Time October - December

A. BASIC PURPOSE

The Christmas Volunteer Coordinator position is mainly responsible for recruiting and supporting volunteers to assist in the local Salvation Army Christmas Kettle program.

B. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Recruit volunteers for bell ringing from churches, service clubs, schools, colleges, corporations, corps, advisory board members and their families, youth organizations, senior organizations, volunteer groups, choirs, bands and individuals. (This includes any past bell ringers/groups.)

2. Manage The Salvation Army online volunteer recruitment.

3. Keep all avenues of volunteer signups up to date (walk-in, phone, online)

4. Responsible to maintain all records concerning volunteers, have volunteers fill out background check.

5. Answer kettle office phone, receive voicemail, return calls.

6. Schedule delivery of countertop kettles and keep log updated of kettles signed out.

7. Sign-out kettles to volunteers and receive and sign-in kettles at each shift.

8. Keep track of totals for volunteers.

9. Keep social media updated and post often.

10. Restock outgoing kettle supplies- candy, stickers, business cards.

11. Keep track of bells.

12. Make sure kettle slips are properly labeled and are placed in each kettle before volunteer leaves.

13. Help sanitize used kettles and check padlocks

14. Help with counting kettle monies.

15. Any other kettle/Christmas duties as assigned.

C. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

D. Must be at least 21 years old and have a valid driver license.

E. Incumbent must be able to work with minimal supervision, be prepared to encounter a variety of assignments and timelines. Must be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive materials and information.

F. Must posses good written and oral communication skills and be able to draft and edit professional level communication.

G. Must be proficient in computer programs such as Microsoft office (including word, excel, PowerPoint and publisher, outlook email.)

H. Must have excellent organizational skills including multitasking and time management.

I. Must demonstrate good judgement and act in a professional manner.

J. Some understanding of the purpose and goals of The Salvation Army is desired.

K. Reliable and dependable, ability to work as part of a team.

L. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis.

2. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, cabinet drawers, heavy kettles, reach overhead.

3. Ability to lift to 25lbs. (usually file boxes)
