What You Will Do:

  • Minimum requirements for a CNC Burner A require setting up and operating the CNC burning and Plasma cutting equipment as follows:
  • Use a computer to evaluate QC database to ensure material selected complies with required specifications. Issue material with heat number into business system.
  • Set-up and operate equipment to make various shapes including but not limited to circles, squares, rectangles, shell flanges, rings, custom cuts, lead-ins, and chain cuts.
  • Use preset programs to make parts.
  • Use available software to create an NC file as needed for individual burn templates.
  • Use nested plate programs to make parts adjusting such as offsets and mirror-ins as needed.
  • Maintain computer library of burning programs and download files as required.
  • Set-up and operate existing equipment ensuring concurrent (one operator running two machines simultaneously) and efficient utilization.
  • Adaptable to programming, setting up, and operating new burning or cutting equipment that may be installed.
  • Grind and clean parts produced off the tables as directed.
  • Mark parts as required.
  • Review and prepare related paperwork. Monitor burn lists and schedules.
  • Select and move proper material from inventory. Load and unload tables.
  • Cut up and properly dispose of scrap material.
  • Evaluate usability of scrap and drops and select same for small lots or rush parts.
  • Replace consumables on equipment.
  • May put or assist others in putting purchased raw materials and/or drops into racks or designated areas as directed.
  • Clean tables of slag and replace bars.
  • Maintain work area and equipment in a safe, clean and orderly condition.
  • Train, assist, and instruct CNC burners
  • Have the necessary standard Machinist tools
  • Ability to be trained, set up, and operate other machine shop equipment as needed.
  • Must hold valid accredited CNC Certification or a minimum of one year experience operating a burn table or CNC machine in a machine shop environment or related field.
  • Performs closely related duties as assigned.
