The College Information Security Officer (ISO) is responsible for the planning and administration of the college’s information security program. Specifically, this position has responsibility for implementing the policies, standards, and procedures necessary to protect the college and VCCS ITS infrastructure from external or internal threats; manage access to college and VCCS systems, and administer the college IT security operations.

Minimum Qualifications
KSAs
  • Knowledge or Certification equal of equivalent to Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
  • Must be an articulate and persuasive leader who can serve as an effective member of the college Information Technology Services team and communicate information security-related concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical staff.
  • Physical ability to lift 10-25 pounds and sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch repeatedly.

Required Qualifications:
  • BA or BS in Computer Science, Information Management, Information Security or related field, or combination of education and equivalent experience.
  • Extensive experience in the IT security field.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with Microsoft products, Microsoft Certifications preferred
  • Some knowledge of network protocols, routing and systems operations
  • Extensive experience with maintaining system security using packet filtering, logging, and intrusion detection systems in production computing environments.
  • Extensive with Cisco and Palo Alto equipment.
  • Significant supervisory experience

  • Security Professional certifications preferred.
  • Significant knowledge equivalent to the ISACA COBIT certification
