What does a Commercial Loan Officer do?

As our Commercial Loan Officer, you'll contribute to the growth of our Stevens Point market. You'll do this through business development, origination, underwriting and closing commercial loans with a focus on small business lending. You'll build and maintain positive relationships with new and existing customers and businesses - always keeping the customer's needs top priority.

Commercial Loan Officer Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain an active calling program on prospective new customers with a focus on smaller businesses.
• Review and evaluate customer applications for lines of credit or lines of credit extensions.
• Receive and screen loan applications; request credit status, banking, and other references, conduct on-site inspections, and order appraisals; analyze applicant's financial status, credit and property evaluation; approve loan within specified limits; refer larger loan requests to loan committee for approval; communicate loan decision to applicants.
• Direct and participate in the closing of approved commercial loan agreements.
• Maintain an active calling program on an existing portfolio of customers providing all necessary banking services including loans, deposits, cash management and investments services.
• Monitor and review assigned commercial loans on a regular and continuing basis; identify problem or delinquent loan accounts; initiate appropriate corrective actions on delinquent accounts on a timely basis.
• Identify and manage call referrals/joint calls within the bank for other bank-related services for cross-selling opportunities.
• Participate in the bank's business development activities; represent the bank in industry and professional associations, community organizations, local business groups, and other organizations, to support Pride in Peoples.

Commercial Loan Officer Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree from in the field of business or related field.
• 5+ years of commercial banking experience.
• Prior sales experience in financial services.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to use tact, diplomacy, and a professional personal appearance, when dealing with customers and co-workers.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment and assist at other locations as requested.
• Analytical, organizational, time management and problem-solving ability.
• Good knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing and database software programs.
• Familiarity with local financial marketplace.
