Families for Strong Public Schools - Community Organizer
Families for Strong Public Schools is a 501(c)(4) organization that is dedicated to centering our students in education policy by unifying, educating, and empowering parents to support a strong public education agenda at all levels of government.
Responsibilities:
- Work in collaboration with pro-public education parent-led groups to recruit, activate, and increase the number of parents engaging in public education advocacy in their communities.
- Develop and implement an education and outreach strategy that includes parent-focused public education community conversations to discuss what our students, teachers, and public schools need to be successful and the importance of our public schools.
- Direct outreach and recruitment of parents that includes phone, text, and in-person outreach.
- Organize and help facilitate regular meetings with pro-public education parent-led groups.
- Build county coalitions of pro-public education parent-led groups, pro-public education advocacy groups and aligned allies.
- Monitor conditions on the ground in your region and identify opportunities for grassroots engagement.
- Mobilize parents and supporters to school board meetings, other local government meetings, and in support of pro-public education school board candidates.
- Provide tools, resources, and infrastructure to pro-public education parent-led groups. Track all contacts using a CRM database.
Qualifications:
- Passion for public education.
- Community education and outreach, particularly high volume 1:1 contacts with people through face-to-face, phone, or peer-to-peer texting strategies.
- Ability to evaluate and assess local, on-the-ground conditions, including what programs, techniques, and tools are working and which are not. Then documenting this information and communicating it to others.
- Experience recruiting organizations, volunteers, and/or the general public into a project, campaign, or body of work.
- Strong documentation, tracking, and communication skills to capture conversations, 1:1s, and outreach efforts; and to communicate with a wide array of communities and members.
- Ability to travel in-state, to work off and online and in a community setting, and to conduct in-person outreach.
- Familiarity with the CRM Nation Builder or EveryAction, the texting tool Spoke or SlickText, and the voter database VAN is preferred but not required.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Strong work ethic with a high degree of energy.
- Reliable transportation and the ability to travel extensively across your region.
Compensation / Benefits: The Regional Organizer position is a full-time salaried role at $54,000 per year. Healthcare insurance, paid time off, and travel reimbursement included.

- South FL - Broward, Miami-Dade, Monroe County
- North FL 3 - Leon, Gadsden, Hamilton, Jefferson, Madison
- Jax / NE: Nassau, Duval, Clay, St. Johns, Flagler
- North FL 7 - Alachua, Volusia, Bradford, Lake, Putnam, Union
