Community Support Specialist
Job description
Duties consist of but are not limited to providing planning, organizing and providing community support services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities within the community. Teaching adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities independent living skills within their community environment. This position also provides transportation services for clients. Must be willing to travel and work a flexible schedule.
High School Diploma or GED preferred. Must be at least 18 years of age, have a Texas driver’s license, and have a clear driving record for the previous 3 years and a valid auto insurance card.
Experience/Skills: Basic computer & data entry essential. Must be able to prepare food and assist with meal planning. Must be able to handle exposure to household cleaning chemicals & assist with teaching household cleaning skills. An understanding of basic life skills training regarding budgeting, account balancing, independent living, etc.
Physical Abilities: Must be able to satisfactorily perform job specific tasks prescribed in agency physical. Must be able to bend, stoop crouch, sit, stand, push, pull, kneel, and lift. Must be able to perform routine lifting of handicapped clients.
