Job description

Seeking Contract Family Law Attorney-Work From Home

30-50 cases on average. We handle mostly contested divorces but we also handle paternity and post-judgment motions. You will be the attorney of record for the cases assigned to you and supervise a team of assistants assigned to your caseload. The firm has three paralegals and three legal assistants. The legal assistants focus primarily on 12.285 compliance.

We are implementing a flat fee model that automatically terminates representation after mediation regardless of settlement or impasse. Thus, your case closes if a settlement is reached at or before mediation, or an impasse is reached. Cases should not last more than 6 months, with three months being the ideal timeframe to close a case from inception.

Trials are not included in the agreement for representation. However, if you are interested in trials, the agreement for legal services says the client and firm can agree on representation at an hourly rate. If you decide to handle a trial case, you will be compensated 30% of the hours you bill plus normal weekly compensation.

One attorney for Central Florida is needed. The attorney can be based in Pinellas, Hillsborough, or Orange County.

One attorney for Northeast Florida is needed. The attorney can be based in Duval, St. Johns, Nassau, Clay, or Volusia County.

One attorney for South Florida is needed. The attorney can be based in Palm Beach, Broward, or Miami-Dade County.

We are a mission-driven law firm that believes that legal services can be delivered in a way that is both affordable for our clients and profitable for our firm.

We are looking for attorneys who not only have experience in the practice of family law but also see value in our mission and approach to the practice of law and will therefore be a natural fit to work with our firm.

The position is remote, with meetings, mediations, and most hearings conducted via Zoom (per Fla. R. Jud. Admin. 2.530). Appearance at court hearings is sometimes required for evidentiary hearings lasting longer than an hour, depending on the jurisdiction and judge. Travel to court hearings throughout the state will be required for those instances. The firm will compensate gas expense for any distance over one hour.

Required Skills:

  • At least two years of family law experience, either in your practice or as an associate at another firm
  • Excellent written and oral advocacy
  • Exceptional client service and a congenial and collaborative mindset.
  • You must also be comfortable with technology as we utilize cloud-based practice management software and technology-based tools.
  • Must be able to manage a high caseload
  • Must be willing to travel to court as needed

Please submit your resume for consideration. We look forward to meeting you and seeing if we are a great fit to work together!
