Summary
Barry University's International and Multicultural Program is seeking an International Student Services (ISS) Coordinator.
The International Student Services (ISS) Coordinator will serve as an advocate, resource, and liaison for international students. The ISS Coordinator will work closely with the Program Manager to promote educational experiences that deepen understanding of one's culture and heritage and that respect and educate about similarities, differences, and histories of cultures. The Coordinator will also serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) and an Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO).
This position may require some evenings/weekends during open house, admitted student days, and new student orientation sessions.
Note: This is a 10-Month In-Person Position

Essential Functions
1. Serves as a Designated School Official (DSO) for F-1 students and Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) for the J-1 students.

Advises international students on immigration and related academic issues and assures consistency in immigration advising, SEVIS reporting, immigration documents, and other related services.

Assists in international recruitment efforts and maintains effective communication and relationships with all Barry departments to facilitate efforts in the enrollment process.

Works with the admissions office to assist international students in submitting the necessary documents required for I-20 issuance.

Evaluates financial documentation and prepares and prints the I-20 once all required documents have been submitted and reviewed.

Works with the Admissions team on pre-arrival communications with new international students.
2. Responsible for staying up to date with SEVIS, FSA atlas batching process, and Salesforce.

Includes appointments for all employment-based petitions to USCIS (economic hardship, curricular practical training, and optional practical training) and basic government letters which include military, status, social security, sponsorship, and program extension letters.

Assists with Changes of Status and work authorization seminars for students. Programs include Pre-arrival, orientation, and pre-departure for J-1 students; orientation for new First Year and Transfer F-1 Students.

Assists with programs such as Open Houses, Admitted Student Days, and New Student Orientation.

Provides in-depth immigration assistance to F-1 and J-1 Students and remedial assistance to permanent residents and H-1B petitioners.
3. Assist with the development and implementation of ISS program and events.

Provide educational and cultural opportunities designed to assist students in developing a better understanding of living in a multicultural society

Assist with immigration workshops and tax information sessions for international student community

Collaborate to provide services and programs which enhance and support the success of international students.

Collaborate with other departments and outside resources in developing and conducting programs.

All members of the Division of Mission and Student Engagement are expected, in the course of their daily responsibilities, to demonstrate, support, and promote the mission of the Division and Barry University.

This position collaborates with other University Departments and Divisions on a regular basis.
Qualifications/Requirements

Bachelor's degree in any discipline is required.

Master's degree is preferred.

Experience may substitute for some of the above education: 1-3 years as a DSO or ARO.

3-5 years of work-related experience is required.

Experience working with international students.

Experience evaluating 1-20 documents

Must be experienced with SEVIS, FSA atlas, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Salesforce.

Some weekend and after hours will be required to attend open houses and new student orientations.

Front Desk Customer service and telephone etiquette.
-
Must be able to efficiently communicate with students, parents, faculty, staff, SEVIS and other areas that pertain to international students.
