Corporate Accountant POSITION SUMMARY

A rapidly growing, yet small grass roots real estate company based in the Midwest is seeking an energetic and entrepreneurial individual to fill the position of Corporate Accountant.

This is a senior management position with immediate responsibility for financial reporting and planning aspects for a group of affiliated real estate companies operating in the Great Plains and expanding to other states in the South and West. This organization specializes in multi-family housing programs and is seeking an experienced professional to lead all financial activities including capital markets and finance, treasury, accounting and controls, financial reporting and tax preparation. The successful candidate will be an accomplished finance and accounting professional with significant capital markets experience and in-depth knowledge of accounting issues, procedures and terminology of the real estate industry.

The successful candidate will possess solid business acumen, strong managerial and leadership skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Experience at the senior financial level, and a proven track record with a real estate development firm are prerequisites for consideration.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with the operations of corporate and partnership accounting to ensure accuracy and reliability of financial information and reports
  • Review corporate financial statements with CFO, President and Owner
  • Review partnership financial statements with Financial Managers on a monthly basis
  • Review necessary journal entries to be posted to the general ledger
  • Coordinate year-end financial statement reports and review detail schedules for accuracy
  • Work effectively with team members to facilitate the team and company goals
  • Prepare partnership tax returns
  • Other duties as assigned by the CFO,President and Owner
  • Ability to work in cooperation with executive staff, directors, supervisors, sub-contractors, colleagues, vendors, and officials necessary to efficiently get the job done
  • Portrays a professional image at all times
  • Provides hands-on and active engagement in the role of Controller while supervising a small Accounting Department in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Reports to the Chief Financial Officer

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Multi-family housing programs experience preferred
  • Capital markets and finance, treasury, accounting and controls, financial reporting and tax preparation
  • Senior financial level management
  • Solid business acumen
  • Proven track record with a real estate development firm
  • Certified Public Accountant
  • BS with major in Accounting, Masters preferred
  • Real Estate background
  • Partnership tax return preparation
  • 4 years of senior accounting experience required;

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
