Summary / Objective:

The Cost Manager is responsible for providing support to the Finance, Sales, and Manufacturing Operations, and is primarily responsible for the ongoing activity of margin analysis and cost review/updates back to underlying activities. The Cost Manager is also responsible to manage the Inventory and Shipping Manager.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • The Cost Accounting Manager is responsible for providing support to the Finance, Sales, and Manufacturing Operations, and is primarily responsible for the ongoing activity of margin analysis and cost review/updates back to underlying activities.
  • Completes month-end and year-end reporting process to reconcile cost and gross margin against financial statements.
  • Develop and analyze cost variances on a monthly basis. Create financial review to explain variances to management team.
  • Work with sales and manufacturing to respond to quote requests with accurate information while adhering to documented process for each group.
  • Assist production and inventory control in month end preparation.
  • Responsible to develop Sales and gross margin budget for all product lines.
  • Monitor changes in manufacturing methods, engineering design changes or purchase cost to determine the effect on item cost and gross profit.
  • Responsible to coordinate and update Standard Cost in ERP system on an annual basis.
  • Develop and update meaningful KPI with the Operations team.
  • Work with manufacturing and shipping/receiving to continuously improve inventory accuracy, process, transparency and user knowledge.
  • Coordinate and provide required information for external audits.
  • Develop and communicate financial reports with Operating Managers.
  • Actively contribute to our culture of continuous improvement.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5+ years of related experience in a manufacturing business
  • Strong attention to detail and confidentiality
  • Strong organization skills, with the ability to prioritize work assignments
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including intermediate to expert Excel skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently with minimal direction
