SUMMARY: The Custodian provides daily cleaning services to School facilities.
ABOUT CHIEF LESCHI SCHOOLS: Formerly known as the Puyallup Tribal School, Chief Leschi Schools was founded in 1976 to address the high dropout rate of the youth of the Puyallup tribe. It is the largest of seven tribal schools in the state of Washington and one of approximately 200+ tribal schools in the United States. It is also one of the largest tribal schools to be funded by the Bureau of Indian Education.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Vacuum, sweep, mop, scrub, wax and buff floors, hallways and stairs.
- Dust, clean and maintain furniture, equipment, light fixtures, windowsills and railings.
- Collect and remove waste paper and trash from offices, halls, classrooms, and restrooms.
- Clean tables, chairs, counters, desks, window blinds, air diffusers, air return grills.
- Assist kitchen staff in cafeteria clean-up as needed.
- Move furniture and assist with set-ups and take downs.
- Be able to use and maintain any and all equipment used in custodial care.
- Wash and disinfect walls, mirrors, drinking fountains, toilets, wash basins, drains and urinals.
- Replenish paper towels, toilet tissue, toilet seat covers, soap and other restroom supplies.
- Assist in maintaining the security of the building at all times, insuring that doors and windows are locked after school hours.
- Operate and maintain large cleaning machines (floor scrubbers, polishers, etc.).
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Assist building Administrators as needed.
- Perform other related and unrelated duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or GED
Valid Washington State Driver’s License
Ability to lift and maneuver packages/equipment weighing between 50 – 100 lbs.
At least 1 year of custodial experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Work experience involving basic maintenance repairs
Work experience in stocking of materials
Certification in any area closely related to commercial maintenance
CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:
Successful criminal background clearance
Successful and/or clear drug screening
Be fully vaccinated for COVID-19

Work in a sequential manner using oral and written instructions
Comply with school board policies and follow administrative procedures

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time. The employee must frequently reach with hands and arms and is regularly required to talk or hear; stand and/or walk; bend, stoop, twist, squat, and kneel; use hands to finger, handle, feel and perform fine motor manipulations; and climb stairs and ladders, work at heights, and balance. S/he frequently is required to lift and carry 15 lbs. and occasionally required to lift and carry 100 lbs. The employee must be able to push a maximum force of 50 lbs. and pull a maximum of 70 lbs. Anything over the weight limits should be done as a two-person lift or with a mechanical lift.
