Paragon Foods (a part of the Sysco family!) is the premier distributor of produce and other fresh foods to the restaurant and food-service industry in Western Pennsylvania. We operate out of a new state of the art food distribution facility located in Warrendale, PA.
Summary
The Delivery Driver Helper provides delivery assistance to company Delivery Drivers. The Delivery Driver Helper will aid in unloading product by use of a hand truck, hand jack, or manual labor to move ordered items from the cargo area to the customer’s cooler or other designated delivery location. The Delivery Driver Helper may also assist in verifying the accuracy and quantities of the products being delivered.
Essential Functions
- Accompany the Driver to customer location(s) and, using a hand truck or pump jack, assist in delivery of the product.
- Assist in ensuring that customer order is accurate and in satisfactory condition.
- Read and understand location specific delivery instructions, including alarm codes.
- Assist Driver with clearing obstacles from pathways and other impediments to safe deliveries.
- Respond timely to dispatch/management regarding route delays or other delivery information.
Working Conditions
- Occasional exposure to refrigerated warehouse environment where temperatures are between 35-45 degrees Fahrenheit. Able to exert up to 50 lbs. of force frequently and 70 lbs. of force occasionally.
- Frequently handling, reaching, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, balancing or bending throughout the entire shift.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Minimum Qualifications
- 0 to 1 year of general work experience.
- Able to understand basic correspondence, instructions, rules, policies, graphs, and/or charts.
- Able to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences. Ability to speak, read, write and interpret the English language.
- Able to perform basic arithmetic.
Expected Schedule
- Start time varies by route - range from 12:00am - 5:00am
- Scheduled days - Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday
