A day in the life of our assistant

8 AM, once a week, one-on-one meeting.

• A 15 minute meeting to celebrate my wins, get support from my team, and set action steps for next week to keep me on track to achieve my goals. Let me make sure to have reviewed my progress on my individualized growth plan ahead of time.

8:15 AM - a 5 minute huddle with the team!

• We pick one of our 5 core values and share what it means to embody that value! We align the team and share a quote to energize the team in pursuit of our aim.

8:30 AM - first patients are marked ready.

• Let me grab the route slip and make sure the tray I set up the afternoon before is complete! We want to start the morning off strong.

10 AM -Busy! Busy!

• Preparing the trays ahead of time and pulling the lab case the day before really paid off, huh? I did a great job of packing cord this morning. The technique the Doctor and I went over really hits it on the nail.!

11 AM

• Look, it’s our friendly neighborhood Spider Man..I mean FedEx man with our patient’s lab cases. Fingers crossed that Mrs. Nunez’s veneers are in, she has a wedding next week and I told her I’d call her if they came in early. I’m super excited for her!

12 PM - The slowdown

• It was great catching up with Mr. Mendez. I am so glad his granddaughter graduated from nursing school. His new dentures look great, too. Closing the morning off with his denture adjustment and the post-op patient gives me and my team time to set up for the afternoon!

1 PM Lunch time

• Busy morning. Let me pat myself on the back! We kept patients moving. Trays are ready for the afternoon, sterilizer is running with the morning instruments. Beautiful day to grab lunch from Mad Macks and eat at one of the picnic tables behind the office overlooking the river trail. Let me see if any of my team members want to join!

2 PM

• The crown patient is checked in and ready to go. Tight shift this afternoon!

4 PM- Oh wait, it’s Thursday!

• Time for our weekly team meeting. I am looking forward to hearing my colleagues’ wins for the week! This is a great time for me to share a hiccup I’m having with our new intraoral camera. Let’s see what the rest of the team has to say.

5 PM - It’s 5 o’clock already?

• Whew.. the day went by fast. Good thing I have every other Friday off. Now I can finally binge that show I’ve been waiting for!

What success looks like

• Low metric count of the # of times left the room during a procedure

• Helping the team meet production goals

• Seamless patient experience

• First location located near mission San Jose. Second location conveniently located off Route 35 (near the Division Avenue exit)
