TriStar Beverage, a Hand Family Company, is seeking a talented and self-motivated employee to serve as warehouse mechanic. This position is responsible for repair, preventative maintenance and safety for delivery and other vehicles and ensures all vehicles are kept within Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations at all times. The ability to maintain paperwork and records in accordance with company policy and DOT regulations is essential. The successful applicant will be expected to communicate with vendors and Operations Administer as needed for parts or information and will maintain an inventory of parts and supplies. This position is responsible for the overall cleanliness and orderliness of shop.
Working conditions include exposure to some fluctuations in temperature due to seasonal conditions and the work requires frequent pushing, pulling, and lifting of heavy objects. Manual dexterity, coordination, and mobility are required. Diesel Mechanics lift heavy parts (up to 70 pounds) and tools, handle greasy and dirty parts, and stand or lie in awkward positions while making repairs. Use of specialized tools and equipment is required.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Troubleshoot issues and make repairs to ensure an adequate number of delivery and sales vehicles are available.
- Diagnose engine systems and perform diesel and gasoline engine repairs, including minor tune-ups.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot and perform drive train component repairs.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot and perform hydraulic system repairs.
- Diagnose and repair suspension and steering systems.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot and repair electrical systems.
- Perform road calls in a safe, fast, and professional manner when necessary.
- Assist other mechanics with troubleshooting and repairs when problems arise.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Maintain company records and complete work orders on equipment.
- Balance wheels to minimize wear on tires and rotate wheels at prescribed mileage intervals. Tune up engines to maintain combustion control standards. Adjust equipment to standards set by state DOT for motor vehicle inspections and safety standards.
- Disassemble, inspect, and replace worn or broken parts. Fit and adjust new or repaired parts.
- Test drive repaired equipment.
- Use hoist wrenches, gauges, drills or grinders, or other specialized mechanic tools and equipment.
- Oil and greases vehicles; change filters.
- Maintain part usage records and order repair parts from designated suppliers.
- Notify supervisor of potentially dangerous equipment and corrective action taken.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- We’re looking for a multi-skilled person who can also service and repair gasoline-powered automobiles, electric tow motors, and a variety of farm equipment that includes tractors, bushhogs, and mowers.
- We expect the person who is hired into this position to present a professional public image and perform in a manner that will reflect favorably on the company. This includes maintaining safe driving habits at all times and abiding by all laws. The person hired will interact regularly with employees from different departments, including delivery, sales, operations and admin; therefore, good verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to interact in a positive manner with others, is required.
- To be successful in this position, the person hired must have a sense of urgency about responding to equipment issues and repair needs.
Qualified applicants will possess:
- CLASS A CDL (or the willingness and ability to obtain one),
- A clean driving record
- Knowledge of DOT regulations
- Successful completion of a pre-employment DOT drug screen.
This position also requires advanced mechanical knowledge and practical hands-on experience; 5 years of verifiable experience is desired, but a combination of education and experience will be considered. Certification is desirable but not required for an experienced, competent individual. The person hired must be able to write legibly to complete work orders and other required paperwork and must be able to read and comprehend maintenance and repair manuals.

Pay: $27.50 - $31.00 per hour
