Position Summary:

Responsible for maintaining AAM’s high standard of financial services all associations under management. Oversees the financial reporting practices conducted on behalf of associations through supervision of the accounting management team. Assists Senior Leadership Team, Community Managers, community association boards, community committees, and developer clients with accounting related projects or concerns.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Partners with VP of Financial Management to ensure effective management of AAM, LLC’s community financial reporting and accounting services.
  • Provides leadership directing a highly skilled financial management team focused on the achievement of organization goals and objectives.
  • Supervises Accounting Department Controllers to ensure Staff Accountant related responsibilities are being carried out in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Responsible for oversight of the Developer Forecast Model process and ensures developer related accounting responsibilities are carried out in compliance with association requirements.
  • Responsible for the creation and maintenance of the association annual budget templates.
  • Partners with AAM Business Development on sales presentations and community related workshops.
  • Partners with AAM Training team on training for Association Boards and Community Managers.
  • Attend and presents at association Annual Meetings as requested.
  • Responsible for ensuring productive and efficient use of company resources.
  • Responsible for increasing productivity and efficiency of accounting department functions through process improvement and process standardization.
  • Assists VP of Financial Management in maintaining internal controls applicable to AAM SSAE-18 / SOC audit.
  • Partners with IT Department to implement, maintain and improve accounting systems.
  • Ensures current department policies and procedures are documented.
  • Ensures Controller are meeting contracted deadlines and maintaining quality financial review standards.
  • Partners with Controllers on duties related to CPA firm engagements for tax return and compilation/review/audit preparation.
  • Provides guidance to association clients regarding financial statements and accounting regulations.
  • Partners with VP of Financial Management on strategic planning.
  • Conducts accounting management team meetings with the Controllers.
  • Assists in accounting migration of association acquisitions.
  • Participates in AAM Operations Team meetings.
  • Performs other related duties as directed.

  • Ability to multitask, establish priorities to meet deadlines while preparing and processing large amounts of accounting items.
  • Exceptional organization and tracking skills.
  • Ability to function efficiently in a high volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to proficiently utilize computer programs and accounting database systems, including Microsoft office, internet and e-mail systems.
  • Advanced communication skills (both verbally and written), and the ability to communicate with all levels of management and staff.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Sitting at workstation in an office setting utilizing the computer.
  • Occasional attendance at evening meetings and out of town travel may be required.

Experience

Required
  • 5 year(s): Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field and Five (5) + years of experience in a leadership role within accounting. Excel knowledge at the advanced to intermediate level.

Education

Required
  • Bachelors or better in Finance or related field

Licenses & Certifications

Preferred
  • CPA
