Come join the TurboTax Customer & Business Strategy Team as the Director of Business & Portfolio Analytics. This team is responsible for our overall customer & business strategy and leading the organization to ensure we deliver on growth and revenue commitments. This critical role for the business will need a candidate with strong data literacy, business acumen, & ability to develop deep industry knowledge/competitive awareness in order to provide senior leaders with a clear picture of industry & share performance/opportunities, guide our customer strategy, identify opportunity segments, & inform our overall business model & monetization strategies. To be successful, this candidate will be required to create strong partnerships & communicate clearly to senior leaders across multiple functions of the organization including Strategy, Marketing, Analytics, Product, Research, & Finance.
This role is a unique and rare opportunity that does not come available often. The candidate will have a direct role in shaping the future strategy of CG at the portfolio level and will work hand-in-hand with the VP, Customer & Business Strategy who is an experienced VP (7 years) and who places a focus on coaching and development.
What you'll bring
- Strong proficiency in SQL, Excel/G-Sheets, bonus if experience using Tableau
- 7-10 years professional experience in strategic consulting, marketing, analytics, or product management
- Bachelor degree required; MBA preferred
- Ability to identify untapped business opportunity and communicate analytics approach that generates significant customer or business impact
- Proven ability to formulate hypotheses around category and business opportunities and a strong bias for proving or disproving those hypotheses
- A catalyst and a change agent that champions innovative analytical approaches to business growth that generates durable advantage
- Partner effectively with cross-functional teams, including Strategy, Marketing, Analytics, Product, Research, & Finance to translate business strategies and objectives into financial outcomes
- Detail-oriented individual who can quickly and accurately comprehend, manipulate, and prepare complex models and analyses from large and complex datasets
- A proactive can-do attitude, a self-starter who is comfortable working independently and with ambiguity in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities simultaneously
- Proven track record of communicating effectively, telling stories with data, instilling confidence, educating, and motivating multiple stakeholders at varying levels
How you will lead
- Industry Performance/Share: Lead person responsible for tracking/forecasting industry and competitor share performance & actively engaging with senior leaders & partners to communicate that within the context of overall business performance.
- Customer Strategy: Identifying growth and customer lifetime value opportunities through a deep understanding of acquisition & retention performance/drivers, customer segments, & forward-looking business models/monetization strategies
- Value Pools/Target Segments: Using a combination of internal, public, and research data to continuously identify & evaluate opportunities across new and existing customer segments with the goal of influencing overall customer acquisition strategy.
- Opportunity Sizing/Business Modeling: Evaluate strategic decisions and size new growth opportunities, collaborate across teams to develop business case and bring ideas to market
- Competitive Intelligence: Develop a deep understanding of the industry, competitive offerings & their investor communications/materials to evaluate competitors’ strategy vs our own, bring the organization together through wargaming and scenario planning, and identify potential actions we would take as a result
