Job description
To be a successful Director of Development you must become able to do the following always:
- Follow Company Policy and Procedure (current J: drive)
- Operate according to the Department Operations Manual (practice notes)
- Manage and implement assigned programs within Companys comprehensive fundraising program (annual fund, major gifts, appeals, church relations, database integrity and reporting, staff management, planned giving and capital initiatives).
- Develop meaningful relationships with EmberHope Youthville constituents.
- Develop knowledge of trends and issues in child welfare.
How you will spend your time in this job:
- 75% Fundraising activities and initiatives
- 15% Team development, supervision and reporting
- 10% Community outreach and engagement
- Participation in supervision, committees, agency-wide and staff meetings.
To qualify for this job, you need to have:
- Bachelors degree preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including public speaking. Ability to write proposals, grants and marketing content.
- 7-10 years demonstrated ability to cultivate, solicit, close, and steward annual giving and major gifts.
- Working knowledge of development best practices, fundraising tools and strategies, donor databases, direct mail, email and digital media, and donor research.
- Ability to organize time effectively, establish priorities, set and meet goals, and manage many tasks simultaneously.
- Identify priority prospects annual, special, and major gift prospects and implement fundraising strategies.
- Previous supervisory experience successfully managing and leading a motivated development team.
- Raisers Edge 7 or NXT experience preferred, most notably Reporting in NXT or User Administration experience and ability to run queries and financial reports in RE7.
- Ability to travel, driving agency or personal vehicle, including at night. Ability to do the occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. Able to climb stairs. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends. The employee is subject to outside environmental conditions occasionally; inside conditions frequently, with protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature change.
