SUMMARY: The primary purpose of this job position is to be responsible for general kitchen sanitation and washing of pots and dishes in accordance with current applicable federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations, with our established policies and procedures. May be directed by the Chef and/or Director of Dining Services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Sets up dish machine
  • Fills pot sinks
  • Washes dishes, glasses and flatware
  • Washes pots and pans
  • Maintains areas in a clean-as-you-go condition
  • Checks trash cans continuously
  • Removes trays and bus café when necessary
  • Keeps dish and pot areas orderly and clean
  • Returns clean dishes and pots to proper storage areas
  • Sorts silverware frequently
  • Sweeps and mops all floors in kitchen and café
  • Breaks down dish machine and clean
  • Cleans and organizes pot sinks
  • Promotes clean, safe and neat environment for residents, self and staff
  • Demonstrates knowledge of fire safety procedures and assists with evacuation of residents and guests to a safe location in the event of fire or other emergency
  • Cooperates with staff of other departments in performing job duties
  • Adheres to the Peter Becker Community Code of Conduct and all Corporate Compliance and HIPAA Policies and Procedures.
  • Attends all mandatory in-services.
  • Adheres to facility and department dress code.
  • Attendance is an essential function for this position
  • Performs other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: High school or equivalent preferred

LANGUAGE SKILLS: This position requires good communication skills and the ability to read, write, speak and understand English to communicate with supervisor and other team members. The Utility person must be able to read English in order to use the proper cleaning products and not to cause danger to themselves and others by the misuse of these products.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Basic skills are required

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Good personal hygiene habits are required to comply with Department of Health practices and regulations. Must maintain uniforms in a clean and neat condition.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Clean, well-lit climate controlled environment. Subject to physical and emotional stress associated with normal food service. Performance of job tasks will involve exposure to cleaning chemicals requiring precautions. Smoke free working environment within entire facility.
