Educational Coordinator Salary Range: $24.00/hour Wayside Youth & Family Support Network is hiring for a creative and supportive individual to work in our Family Networks program!

Build and sustain collaborative relationships with school districts in the local Department of Children and Families (DCF) office area to further quality education plans for all youth in the Family Networks system. We provide a supportive culture that is team-focused and places value on healthy work dynamics. What you will do: • Position involves keeping youth in community schools, developing leadership role in obtaining the best possible education plan for every child, and supporting education rights for homeless youth. Build and sustain collaborative relationships with school districts in the DCF Area.

  • Consult to DCF regarding Special Education Law and educational rights of youth in DCF care. Keep DCF apprised of any changes in Special Education Law that impact youth in care. • Participate in DCF Family Team Meetings to help assess and determine appropriate services for families. Attend Educational Team Meetings to ensure the educational needs of DCF youth are met.
  • Care Coordination: Send referrals to service providers. Complete emergency placement searches. Coordinate placement intakes. Coordinate service start dates.
Monitor the quality and appropriateness of services/placements through treatment/utilization review meetings. Complete Duty Day responsibilities. Refer DCF staff to community resources and CBHI. Monitor provider quality and customer service issues with providers.

  • Attend IEP and school meetings. Assist in setting up school transportation for children in placement. Develop cost share agreements between DCF and school districts for Residential Placements. Assist in Local Education Agency (LEA) clarifications, obtaining Ed Surrogates, etc.
Maintain and effectively manage an appropriate caseload based upon standards. • Assist in development of collaborative relationships among community and contracted providers. • Function as a resource for ongoing information and problem-solving within the DCF Office on Network issues. • Administrative: Provide electronic copies of action plans to DCF and providers.

Initiate/Input service referrals. Maintain an organized calendar of meetings. Minimum Requirements: • Bachelor’s Degree required • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in direct service with families, with significant knowledge of Special Education Law.
