The Electrical Designer role is based out of the Dallas office located at 1301 Solana Blvd, Westlake, TX 76262.

Primary Function:
Perform routine design assignments, which require knowledge and skill in basic design techniques and procedures, under close supervision. Drafting will comprise a large portion of job responsibility. Thorough knowledge of CADD systems (AutoCAD and Microstation) and standards will be required. Extensive experience in drafting disciplines with a background in high and extra high voltage electrical substation design.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Employee may be called upon to perform any or all of the following functions:

• Produce new drawings from examples of previous projects and/or standards with some supervision
• Research information in catalogues, specifications, corporate standards, or other reference material
• Calculate cable lengths, conduit fill or other basic tasks
• Learn and properly use the document management system
• Learn and apply corporate standard engineering practices
• Take personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of his/her work
• Bring potential project-related problems and possible solutions to the attention of the responsible party
• Travel out of town for short periods of time as required by projects and assignments
• Other duties as required

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements

Associates degree in drafting & design and a minimum of 5 years electrical design experience is required. A certificate in drafting & design with relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of an Associates degree. Experience with AutoCAD 2010 or newer is required. Experience with Microstation is a plus.

Possess skills in the following areas:

• Basic knowledge of the major components of a substation
• Extensive knowledge of various CADD programs
• Basic electrical AC/DC fundamentals
• Basic knowledge of the types of drawings required to construct a high and extra high voltage electrical substation
• Mathematics, including algebra and basic trigonometry
• Word processing, spread sheet, and e-mail software
• Working in a team environment
• Basic oral and written communications
• Communicating effectively with co-workers
