Summary:
The Electrical Journeyman will install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures. They will ensure that all work is completed in accordance with NEC and local codes. The Electrical Journeyman will follow all OSHA safety and jobsite safety requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Install, inspect, and test electrical distribution systems and components
- Complete work orders and record material utilized on jobs,
- Utilize plans, diagrams, and installation manuals to complete tasks,
- Work with and around energized lines.
- Perform work safely and report to the Project Manager any observed safety and security problems.
- On call and carry a mobile telephone to respond to after hour calls.
- Record on service tickets and work log reports daily activities and per job records.
- Maintain accurate lists, security and stocking levels of Electrical service tools and consumable supplies.
- Perform preventative maintenance to commercial Electrical equipment including but not limited to panels, switchboards, UPS, PDU, Starters and Motor Control Centers, etc.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose Electrical equipment failures including schematic controls wiring diagrams. Replace or adjust defective or worn components to repair systems.
- Operation, repair and preventative maintenance of the Fire Alarm and emergency Generator systems.
- Lift and move of materials, supplies, and equipment minimum 50 lbs.
- Any reasonable assignment or request related to the building operation as directed by the Client, any company executive, the Project Manager.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug, background and alcohol test.
- Be available to respond to emergency calls and administer an after-hours emergency response call list, and
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Minimum of 3-7 years of hands-on experience in the commercial / government Electrical trade.
- DC Journeyman’s license.
- High school diploma or equivalent desired.
- Demonstrable knowledge of skills, for electrical installation, maintenance, and repair.
- Communicate effectively in English in speaking and writing.
- Advanced electrical systems training and manufacturer training.
- Extensive technical knowledge of Electrical service and installation including local and national building codes.
- Ability to diagnose Electrical systems.
- Able to work Monday-Friday with occasional overtime during afternoons, evenings and weekends as needed.
- Must be able to work shifts as scheduled.
- Possess current, valid driver’s license (not under suspension or limitation).
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background, alcohol and drug screen.
- Ability to lift 75 lbs. and possessing good fine motor coordination and ability to withstand exposure to dust, fumes, heights, and confined spaces.
- Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, which includes all eligible booster shots, except when vaccination is not medically advised or violates your sincerely held religious beliefs in violation of EEO laws, and
- Must be able to successfully pass a background and drug & alcohol screening.
