We are seeking a full-time Employment Specialist for our Employment and Education program in broward county.
Minuimum qualifications:
1. Associates Degree, Bachelors preferred
2. Two (2) years strong supported employment history including; job placement, development, vocational rehabilitation, job coaching and follow along
Specific duties:
- Maintain a professional image conducive to the business environment representing UCO in a positive manner.
- Define criteria and identify adults who will be considered supported employment candidates and who will follow all Federal, State and agency guidelines regarding supported employment.
- Perform job analysis and functional assessments of all perspective supported employment positions.
- Provide positive job coaching; calling, development and technical adaptive assistance to all supported employment candidates.
- Document all progress with all supported employment candidates including logs regarding business contracts, placement interviews, and employment opportunities.
- Maintain open communication regarding placement with GH, AC, ISC, WS staff, family and all concerned individuals.
- Maintain networking system with other agencies.
- Evaluate and utilize all necessary tools to identify strengths and weaknesses of all supported employment candidates.
- Complete monthly supported employment reports and submit to Director of Education and Employment Initiatives and all concerned parties.
- Follow marketing plan for job development.
- Develop and conduct related supported employment groups with identified adults.
- Must be able to adjust schedule to work evenings and weekends as required. Provide on-call coverage.
- Must demonstrate an ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
- Must demonstrate an ability to work within the Supported Employment team as well as the inter-department team through active and positive participation.
- Perform job development according to marketing plan for students and adults referred by VR, APD, Medicaid Waiver and/or STEP.
- Assist adults and students with securing social security cards, Florida identification cards and other documents as necessary.
- Will refer students or adults to VR and assist with referral process when appropriate.
- Effectively utilize VR as a resource for employer and adult needs (i.e. TJTC for employer, work-related items for adults, vouchers, shopping)
- Effectively facilitate adults' and students transition to community employment by:
- Performing training & developing training materials/adaptations.
- Building natural supports on job site.
- Fading appropriately.
- Make sound decisions with regard for adults' and students welfare at job site.
- Maintain a follow-along caseload as required.
- Attend IEP, IPP, transition and other meetings as required.
- Attend Supported Employment Staff meetings.
- Prepare and submit monthly service logs, monthly progress reports, Quarterly reports, Employment Stability Plans and other documentation as required.
- Employment Specialist will maintain adult file system.
- Employment Specialist demonstrate an ability to problem solve on behalf of the adults and students on and off the job.
- Employment Specialist will maintain a schedule that is sensitive to the individual needs of adults and students.
- Employment Specialist develops or influences new opportunities for the adults and students on and off the job which maximizes their community experience (demonstration of creativity and initiative).
- Implements and/or supports behavioral interventions as recommended as needed.
- Interacts with consumers and students in an appropriate and positive manner, fostering independence.
- Employment Specialist will keep the Director of Ed. and Employment Service updated on caseload activity or problems.
- All other duties as assigned.
