Job Summary
Liberty Cruise is a sightseeing cruise company that operates in NY and Brooklyn. We operate a fleet of passenger boats that need preventative maintenance, rebuilds, and repowers. Engineers should have a strong mechanical background and be able to work on both Cummins and Detroit diesel engines as well as all auxiliary machinery.
Position-specific responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections of:
- Vessel hulls (aluminum and steel)
- Pumps
- Plumbing
- Propulsion engines
- Generators
- Electricals systems
- Low voltage electronics
- Steering systems
- HVAC systems
- Diagnose various problems aboard our vessels and determine appropriate repair work
- Ability to weld aluminum and steel (preferred)
- Fabrication and carpentry skill (preferred)
- Perform tasks independently with limited / no direction
- Knowledge of Coast Guard Regulations and ability to keep vessels in compliance
Desired background
- At least 3 years as a marine mechanic or related experience ; 5 years (preferred)
- QMED, Assistant Engineer/ Chief Engineer License (preferred)
- Electrician certification preferred, not required
- Familiarity with marine application engines and auxiliary equipment
- Experience with operation and maintenance of marine machinery
- Familiarity with Detroit, John Deere, Caterpillar, Cummins, Northern lights engines
- Own your own tools and vehicle to bring them to work location (preferred)
- Must have the weekends, on-call, and holiday availability
- Job hours may vary
- Pre-employment background check, pre-employment and random drug testing required in accordance with Coast Guard regulations
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $34.00 - $42.00 per hour
